Kremlin spokesman says no initiatives from Scholz, Macron to engage with Putin of late

The press secretary of the head of state said that the Russian president is open to any contacts that will help Moscow achieve its goals

MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Neither German Chancellor Olaf Scholz nor French President Emmanuel Macron has lately initiated any talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the latter's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said in an interview with Izvestia.

"We have heard much from Scholz and Macron who pledged to continue to engage with Putin to find ways out of the situation, but there have been no initiatives of late," Peskov underscored.

Meanwhile, he said, "Putin has been open to any communication that may help Russia to somehow reach its own goals.".
