NOUAKCHOTT, February 8. /TASS/. Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani confirmed on Wednesday his intention to accept the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and come to the second Russia-Africa summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after meeting with the Mauritanian leader.
"We discussed preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit, which will be held on July 27 to 29 in St. Petersburg. Mr. President, who took part in the first such event in the fall of 2019 in Sochi, confirmed that he intended to accept the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and come to the summit in late July in St. Petersburg," Lavrov said.
The Russian top diplomat also said that he had invited Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani to visit Russia. "We are grateful to our Mauritanian friends for their wonderful hospitality. I have invited my colleague to visit the Russian Federation with a return visit at any time convenient for him," Lavrov noted.
