Russian PM congratulates China on success of 20th Communist Party Congress

MOSCOW, November 1. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin congratulated China on the success of the 20th Communist Party Congress at a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government on Tuesday.

"I would like to congratulate the leadership and people of friendly China on the success of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party. This is a large-scale event that has been followed with great interest in Russia," he said.

Mishustin wished China further fruitful work and achievement of all tasks approved at the congress as part of a "new stage of comprehensive modernization" of the country.

The 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing from October 16 to 22. The members of the renewed Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party who were elected at the concluding meeting confirmed the new composition of the Politburo and its Standing Committee. Xi Jinping, 69, was re-elected as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for a third five-year term.
