Putin’s quotes on social media likely to be fake — Kremlin

The Russian president does not use social networks, the spokesman informed

MOSCOW, November 17. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has called on reporters not to believe fake quotes attributed to Russian President Vladimir Putin by social media.

"I would like to address your European colleagues that read publications [on social media containing Putin’s alleged statements] - don’t believe these publications," the spokesman told reporters on Tuesday. He noted that Putin does not use social networks. "Any information that you can read on the matter, especially if it’s a quote, is likely to be fake, and if it’s not a quote, it’s not even worth paying attention to," Peskov said, commenting on publications on social networks.

"You should trust our information. We are always ready to answer your requests and confirm that a certain publication is accurate," the Kremlin official told the media.

Peskov has dismissed reports of Putin allegedly saying that Germans would blindly follow German Chancellor Angela Merkel like they followed Adolf Hitler in 1939 as "absolute nonsense."
