An Il-76 military transport plane crash-landed in the Ryazan Region over an engine failure

MOSCOW, June 24. /TASS/. Another injured crew member died after an Il-76 military transport plane crash-landed in Ryazan in central Russia, bringing the death toll to five, a source in the emergencies services told TASS on Friday.

"An injured person who was in a severe condition in the hospital died," the emergencies services said.

The regional authorities reported earlier on Friday that four people died and five others suffered injuries in the air crash, with one individual being in a severe condition.

According to the data of the Russian Defense Ministry, an Il-76 military transport plane crash-landed in the Ryazan Region over an engine failure. As a TASS correspondent reported from the scene, the plane crashed into a field in close proximity to private houses, in the area of the Mikhailovskoye highway, in the meadows of the floodplain of the Pletyonka River.

As a TASS source said, a fire broke out at the crash site, which was subsequently extinguished. The air crash disrupted electric power supply in several streets close to the crash site. Acting Ryazan Region Governor Pavel Malkov announced at 17:00 Moscow time that electric power supply had been restored.
