EU plans to cut agricultural imports from Ukraine starting in June — AFP

No details were given about specific commodities to be affected by the reduction or how much imports will plunge

PARIS, March 28. /TASS/. The European Union is going to reduce agricultural imports from Ukraine starting in June 2025, the AFP news agency said, citing Agriculture and Food Commissioner Christophe Hansen.

"Import quotas will not remain the same. So there will indeed be less imports," he said, quoted by the news agency.

No details were given about specific commodities to be affected by the reduction or how much imports will plunge.

The European Commission granted Ukraine free access to its agricultural markets in June 2022 by abolishing import duties. European farmers took to the streets in a number of large-scale protests against the move, alleging that imports of cheap foods caused havoc in the EU agricultural sector.
