ASTANA, March 7. /TASS/. The National Bank of Kazakhstan has decided to raise the base (key) rate by 1.25 percentage points - from 15.25% to 16.5%, the financial regulator said.
According to the bank's press service, this decision was made due to the growth of inflation. Annual inflation accelerated to 9.4% in February, the statement said.
The goal of the National Bank of Kazakhstan is to achieve inflation of 5%, the regulator previously reported that it would take measures to achieve this. Before this, the base rate was increased in December 2024 by 1 percentage point to 15.25% per annum, while in January 2025 it was kept at this value and was not change.
