Russian Cabinet to expand duties on products from unfriendly countries

Higher rates of duties are also introduced for individual kinds of meat and fish, canned ready food made of vegetables, fruits and nuts, confectionery, pasta, and soft drinks

MOSCOW, December 31. /TASS/. Customs duties introduced earlier on perfumery and cosmetics from unfriendly countries will be expanded to cover new countries from January 1, 2025, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development says.

"The Russian government passed a resolution increasing customs duties for certain goods imported from unfriendly countries. Changes will come into effect from January 1," the ministry said. Higher duties will also apply to a greater number of countries.

Higher rates of duties are also introduced for individual kinds of meat and fish, canned ready food made of vegetables, fruits and nuts, confectionery, pasta, and soft drinks. The duty on beer and cider will grow from 0.1 to 1 euro per liter. The duty on roasted and instant coffee will be raised to 13% and 17.5% respectively. Import duties on spark plugs will total 25% instead of 10% at present.
