Bosphorus traffic resumes after broken tanker is towed away

The 274-meter Cordelia Moon tanker, which suffered an equipment failure, was safely towed and anchored at the Ahirkapi anchorage

ANKARA, December 26. /TASS/. Ship transit through the Bosphorus Strait has resumed in both directions after the Panamanian-flagged tanker Cordelia Moon, which was on its way to Novorossiysk, was towed.

"The 274-meter Cordelia Moon tanker, which suffered an equipment failure, was safely towed and anchored at the Ahirkapi anchorage," the Turkish Coast Guard General Directorate said in a statement. It was noted that the transit of ships through the strait has resumed.

It was reported earlier that the transit of ships through the Bosphorus Strait has been suspended in both directions due to the malfunction of the Panamanian-flagged tanker Cordelia Moon en route to Novorossiysk.

The Cordelia Moon is 274 meters long and 50 meters wide. Tugboats have arrived to move the ship out of the main channel.
