MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. The Russian oil pipeline operator Transneft plans to build and commission three tanks of 50,000 cubic meters each in the Far Eastern port of Kozmino for stable oil shipments and intake from the main oil pipeline, CEO of Transneft - Kozmino Port company Dmitry Kleyankin said in the Transneft corporate magazine.
"The throughput capacity of the ESPO-2 [East Siberia - Pacific Ocean main oil pipeline] and shipping volumes increased significantly during the last three years. This requires sufficient capacity of the tankfarm for seamless oil intake from the main oil pipeline. Any untimely approach or a delay of a tanker, foul weather and any man-caused circumstances will result in our tankfarm, should it remain with the same volumes, being filled and halting the pipeline much earlier than it was a year, two or three [years] back. That is why we are implementing the project of expanding the tankfarm and are constructing three new tanks of 50,000 [cubic meters each]," the chief executive said.
Foundations are ready for two tanks scheduled to come on stream in fall 2025 and earthmoving is still underway on the site of the third one. It is planned to be commissioned in 2026.
Earlier reports said that oil export shipments via Kozmino were planned to be 46 mln metric tons in 2024.
