Rostec to unveil 'smart' parachute system with GLONASS at Dubai Airshow

The precision of the system’s landing at any given point with a stable GLONASS signal amid standard weather conditions stands at up to 100 meters, the press service noted

MOSCOW, November 10. /TASS/. Russian tech giant Rostec will show its brand-new Junker-DG-250 cargo parachute system with automatic steering and GLONASS navigation system for the first time outside the CIS at the Dubai Airshow 2023, the Rostec press service told TASS.

"Rostec will unveil its brand-new high-precision parachute system for delivering cargoes, the Junker-DG-250, at the Dubai Airshow 2023. <…> It provides for landing at the destination point using GLONASS satellite navigation signals. This will be the first time the product will be demonstrated to the international public outside the CIS," the corporation said.

The precision of the system’s landing at any given point with a stable GLONASS signal amid standard weather conditions stands at up to 100 meters, the press service noted. Moreover, several such cargo systems may fly one after another in a ‘caravan’. Junker makes it possible to land cargoes with a total flight weight of up to 250 kg on aerial vehicles at a speed of up to 350 km/h from a height of up to 8,000 meters.

The Dubai Airshow is one of the world’s largest aerospace exhibitions, held biannually. Russia has been a participant in the Dubai Airshow since 1993. This year, 20 national pavilions at the Dubai Airshow will demonstrate over 180 aircraft made by more than 1,400 manufacturers. The Dubai Airshow 2023 will run from November 13 through 17.
