Queue management system for trucks to go live from September — Ministry

The queue management system will be introduced by steps, starting from border crossings with already available required infrastructure

MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. The queue management system at automobile border crossings will be introduced for trucks from September 2023, the Russian Ministry of Transport said.

Such measure is designed to reduce waiting time of border crossing for trucks. The queue management system will be introduced by steps, starting from border crossings with already available required infrastructure.

"Amendments to individual legislative acts of the Russian Federation authorizing introduction of the mechanism of advance booking of approach time of vehicle crossing points for trucks were approved by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The law will come into force from September 2023," the Ministry said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier signed a law binding truck drivers to book date and time to cross the Russian border. The queue management system will operate in line with a procedure to be set forth by the Russian Government. It will comprise a list of documents required for booking, a procedure of border crossing control in indicated time and categories of motor vehicles able to drive through checkpoints without standing in queue. The Government is also to provide for a procedure of vehicles staying along the road to ensure the possibility of driving along it.
