All vehicles heading to Crimea undergo inspection — Mishustin

It is stressed that it’s necessary to take increased security measures at critical transport infrastructure

MOSCOW, October 31. /TASS/. The government has arranged for the transport of people and goods across the bridge to Crimea and all vehicles heading to the peninsula undergo inspections, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with his deputies on Monday.

"The situation on this route is the focus of our attention. The transportation of people, the delivery of goods and products to Crimea and back has been set up. Railway service has also been made available. All vehicles traversing the bridge or being transported by ferry undergo inspections," the prime minister said.

Mishustin reminded the deputies of the instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin that, given the current situation, it’s necessary to take increased security measures at critical transport infrastructure.

A truck exploded on the Crimean Bridge on October 8, causing the fuel tanks of a nearby freight train to catch fire. Two spans of the automobile section of the bridge collapsed. A government commission has been created following the incident. Railway service on the bridge has been restarted, and it also opened for some traffic by passenger cars and buses.
