Azerbaijani air carriers to resume flights to Russia from June 15

AZAL will perform daily flights to Moscow’s Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports

BAKU, June 15. /TASS/. Azerbaijan’s AZAL and Buta Airways air carriers will resume flights to Russia from Wednesday after a pause of more than three months.

According to AZAL, the country’s air carriers will resume flights from Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku to Russia’s capital Moscow, second largest city of St. Petersburg, southern cities of Astrakhan and Mineralnye Vody and the Volga area city of Kazan from June 15.

AZAL will perform daily flights to Moscow’s Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports. Flights to St. Petersburg will be carried out twice a week - on Thursdays and Sundays.

Azerbaijani low-cost airline Buta Airways will fly to Astrakhan on Thursdays and Sundays, to Mineralnye Vody on Tuesdays and Sundays and to Kazan on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Starting from March 6, AZAL and Buta Airways suspended all flights to Russia due to risks caused by anti-Russian sanctions, amid lack of proper flight insurance.

Buta Airways press service said on Tuesday it would also resume flights to Ufa, the administrative center of Russia’s Volga area republic of Bashkortostan, starting from July 3. The flights were suspended due to the novel coronavirus pandemic more than two years ago.
