Kazakh government plans to step up cooperation with Russia, says republic’s PM

According to Alikhan Smailov, Russia is the main trade and economic partner of Kazakhstan

MOSCOW, May 30. /TASS/. The Kazakh authorities intend to deepen and strengthen cooperation with Russia, Prime Minister of the republic Alikhan Smailov said at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin in Moscow on Monday.

"The Kazakh government intends to deepen and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia in all areas. We are facing the task of further boosting mutual trade and investment," he said.

Russia is the main trade and economic partner of Kazakhstan, the PM noted. "Positive dynamics have persisted this year. Trade turnover rose in four months, reaching $7.2 bln. Systemic efforts are being made to develop various economic ties between our countries. In this respect, on-time delivery of the comprehensive program of economic cooperation for 2021-2025 is regarded as important," Smailov said.
