SANYA, June 8. /TASS/. The local waste sorting infrastructure will fully cover all areas of China's Sanya in 2022, reported by the Sanya Daily with reference to the plan of the local administration of housing, urban and rural construction.
By 2022, Sanya is implementing a system according to which the places and times of garbage dumping are strictly regulated across the city. Moreover, an organization responsible for waste disposal, a carrier company and a supervisory unit will be appointed to each district.
One or two inspectors will be assigned to each waste collection point to monitor compliance with the disposal rules. Garbage can be thrown away from 07:00 to 09:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00 local time.
Densely populated areas of Sanya's urban district with a developed transport infrastructure will be tied to the nearest urban sorting points. A centralized garbage collection will be organized from sparsely populated and remote areas of the city.
The Hainan authorities pay special attention to environmental protection and pollution control. Four large settlements of the island - Haikou, Sanya, Sansha and Danzhou - have introduced mandatory sorting of household waste since October 2020. Since December 2020, the island has banned the use of non-biodegradable bags, trash bags, cutlery and other household items. By the end of 2025, the province will completely ban the production, sale and use of all plastic products specified in the list approved by the Chinese government.
