Yakutia presents application to translate speech from Russian into Evenk

The application is available on AppStore and Google Play

YAKUTSK, February 25. /TASS/. A presentation of an application to translate speech from Russian into Evenk was organized online.

The Ayana application, which uses artificial intelligence, was designed by the Alagun NGO with the support from the Ministry on Development of the Arctic and from the Arctic Capital Company. The project’s author is Nikolai Aprosimov.

"Ayana is a mobile application, which is ready to work. <…> It can identify voices and send responses depending on requests," the video presentation read. "It can communicate, and make translations with explanations."

The application is available on AppStore and Google Play. "The Ayana voice platform is a software product that will provide instant voice translation of words and sentences in the Russian - Evenk language pair with the ability to understand and process natural language. The app is able to translate words or short sentences from Russian into Evenk. Russia does not have a similar high-tech solution to the language problem of the indigenous low-numbered peoples," the description says.

"The initial stage is completed: the Ayana platform, linked to Google Speech Text, is ready, and we are working on building up the vocabulary," Arctic Capital’s press service said.

The work to improve the translation continues, the press service added.
