Inbound tourism in Russia to reach pre-crisis level by 2023 - agency chief

Russia hopes that gradual revival of international tourist flows will begin by this autumn, Zarina Doguzova said

ULAN-UDE, February 7. /TASS/. Inbound tourism in Russia is expected to reach a pre-crisis level not earlier than in 2023, Zarina Doguzova, chief of Russia’s Tourism Agency, said on Sunday.

"As for inbound tourism, we hope that gradual revival of international tourist flows will begin by this autumn. Not a single country hopes to completely revive international tourism earlier than 2023. We [in Russia] hope to begin revival by this autumn, to continue next year and reach a level comparable with the pre-crisis one by 2023," she said, adding that revival of the inbound tourism sector is lagging behind domestic tourism by one to one and a half year.

"The gap will probably grow still wider. But we want to begin gradual, stage-by-stage revival of international tourism by autumn. We are doing our best to achieve that," she noted.
