PATRIOT PARK /Moscow Region/, May 22. /TASS/. Kalashnikov’s Dragunov (SVD) and Chukavin (SVCh) sniper rifles have seen a resurgence in demand in recent years due to their effectiveness as drone-hunting weapons, the group’s CEO Alan Lushnikov told reporters.
"The Kalashnikov Group has been working successfully in this area for a long time, since the last century, and probably the most popular category of sniper rifles is the assault infantry sniper rifles - the SVD and SVCh. These weapons were developed for specific tasks. Now, despite the fact that they don’t have a very long range, up to 1,000 meters, these rifles are in demand, and they are used in counter-drone operations, which is a very important area.
They are used against Baba-Yaga and Vampire drones, they all are successfully engaged with the use of the SVD [and SVCh] rifles. Over the past few years, our volumes have grown many-fold, and the number of orders for the SVD with a folding stock and the Chukavin rifle, which went into mass production this year, has increased exponentially," Lushnikov said.
