MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. Russia’s Battlegroup South has liberated the settlement of Ostrovskogo in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"Units of Battlegroup South carried out effective operations, liberating the settlement of Ostrovskogo in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the statement reads.

Russian forces also defeated the forces of two Ukrainian mechanized brigades, a motorized infantry brigade, an assault brigade, a mountain assault brigade and two territorial defense brigades near Zaliznyanskoye, Orekhovo-Vasilevka, Chasov Yar, Kurakhovo and Seversk in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Belogorovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic.

"The enemy lost up to 285 troops, two armored combat vehicles, two motor vehicles, a D-30 122 mm howitzer, a US-made M119 105 mm howitzers and five field ammunition depots," the ministry added.
