MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. The potential of the Russian armed forces exceeds Ukraine's capabilities many times, so without the West's help Kiev has no chance to continue fighting, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has admitted.
"I can tell you frankly that without this support [from the West] we will have no chance of winning victory. <...> Today the ratio of our artillery shellings is 1 to 10. Will we be able to stand on our feet? No. In any case, with such statistics, they [Russian forces] will be pushing us back every day," Zelensky said in an interview with US broadcaster PBS. Once again, he mentioned Kiev's demands for weapons.
"To protect 100% of what is under our control we will need to achieve a 10-to-10 ratio," he said.
Zelensky previously admitted that Ukraine would be unable to arm its brigades without US support.
Meanwhile, the decision on providing financial support for Ukraine in the United States is being delayed. The US administration's request to Congress for additional budgetary appropriations in the 2024 fiscal year, including for assistance to Ukraine, was presented five months ago, but its fate is still unclear. US House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson (Republican from Louisiana) promised a separate bill on support for Ukraine will be put to the vote this week.
