What is known about the return of 25 Kursk Region residents from Ukraine to Russia

MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. Another 25 residents from the Kursk Region, who were taken by the Ukrainian military to the Sumy Region, have been returned to Russia, according to human rights commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova.

About the Evacuation

- The 25 residents of the Kursk Region, abducted by the Ukrainian army, have been successfully returned from Ukraine to Russia, according to human rights commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova.

- Among the returnees there are several elderly individuals, with the oldest being 92 years old, according to Alexander Khinshtein, the acting governor of the region.

- An 11-year-old child and five other returnees require medical assistance and will be transported to a hospital by ambulance.

- Six returnees are in serious condition or confined to bed, reported Pavel Savchuk, chairman of the Russian Red Cross (RRC). They have been placed under medical care and sent directly to hospitals in Kursk.

- According to Shevchuk, the remaining returnees are en route to Bryansk, where they will be met by volunteers, psychologists, and specialists from the RRC’s Family Reunification Service.

Repatriation Efforts

- Moskalkova emphasized that Russia is committed to the return of all displaced residents from the Kursk Region; however, the Ukrainian side claims that the necessary documentation is not yet ready.

- Since November 2024, a total of 104 individuals have been repatriated from Ukrainian territory, as reported by Khinshtein.
