NEW YORK, March 9. /TASS/. Former US President Donald Trump and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban raised the issue of protecting state borders at a meeting at the American politician's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, according to Trump’s press service.
"Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Viktor Orb·n met today at Mar-a-Lago to discuss a wide range of issues affecting Hungary and the United States, including the paramount importance of strong and secure borders to protect the sovereignty of each nation," the press service said.
Trump has previously described the situation at the US southern border as a catastrophe caused by US President Joe Biden's actions. He believes that Biden "cannot and does not want" to address the problem of illegal immigration.
This was Orban's third meeting with Trump, who previously welcomed the Hungarian Prime Minister at the White House. However, Orban has not met Biden in person since taking office in January 2021, and ties between the two are strained. The US administration does not agree with the Hungarian government's position on a number of foreign problems, particularly Ukraine, and Hungary, in turn, accuses the US of aiding the opposition and interfering in internal affairs.
