Iraqi resistance reports missile strike on US base in Syria

According to it, the base on the territory of the Kharab al-Jir airport in the northeastern part of the Al-Hasakah Governorate was attacked, the Israeli news outlet Yedioth Ahronoth reported

TEL AVIV, January 14. /TASS/. Militants of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq Shiite movement have announced a new missile attack on the US military base in Syria, the Israeli news outlet Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

According to it, the base on the territory of the Kharab al-Jir airport in the northeastern part of the Al-Hasakah Governorate was attacked. No details were given.

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said on January 9, 2024 that US forces in Iraq and Syria have been attacked 127 times since October 17, 2023. Of those, 52 attacks came from bases in Iraq and 75 from bases in Syria.

Earlier, Shiite militias warned the US in a statement posted on their Telegram channel that they would increase the number of armed operations in Iraq and Syria as "Washington continues to provide military aid to the Israeli army, which is killing civilians in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon."

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7, 2023 when militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian movement Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from Gaza, killing residents of Israeli border settlements and taking over 240 hostages, including women, children and the elderly. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. In response, Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to 2.3 million Palestinians, and has been delivering air strikes on Gaza as well as some parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also underway in the West Bank.
