ANKARA, April 3. /TASS/. A wide range of issues concerning bilateral relations, the implementation of the grain deal, as well as key themes on the international and regional agenda will be discussed during a visit to Turkey by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on April 6-7, Turkey’s top diplomat Mevlut Cavusoglu said.
"We have a wide range of issues to discuss. Apart from bilateral relations, the issue of extending the grain deal will be considered. On March 30, we had talks on this issue with UN Secretary General [Antonio Guterres]. He inquired whether Turkey could contribute to solving a number of issues of which the Russians have complained a lot, and we said we are working on that. Russia agreed to extend the grain deal for 60 days. There is no clarity yet on whether it could be extended for 120 days, and we will be discussing that," TRT television quoted the Turkish foreign minister as saying on Monday.
Earlier reports said Lavrov would visit Turkey at Cavusoglu’s invitation. The Russian Foreign Ministry has said the two diplomats are planning to discuss bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, tourism and other spheres of mutual interest, as well as prospects for developing ties. A detailed exchange of opinions on key regional and international issues, including the situation in Ukraine, will be held. Also, Lavrov and Cavusoglu will coordinate a schedule of bilateral meetings at various levels.
