Belarusian leader suggests declaring truce in Ukraine without regrouping of troops

Alexander Lukashenko added that "if the West once again tries to take advantage of the pause by scheming to strengthen its positions, then Russia must harness the full capacity of its defense industry"

MINSK, March 31. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has suggested that a ceasefire be declared in Ukraine with no option for the parties to regroup their troops.

"I’ll take a chance and suggest that military activities [in Ukraine] should stop with no right [for the parties] to redeploy equipment and regroup forces," he said in an address to the country’s people and parliament on Friday.

Lukashenko added that "if the West once again tries to take advantage of the pause by scheming to strengthen its positions, then Russia must harness the full capacity of its defense industry and army to prevent the conflict from escalating, including phosphorus munitions, depleted uranium and enriched uranium."
