NATO’s Stoltenberg calls for long-term confrontation with Russia

Jens Stoltenberg expressed his certainty that the 30 member states still aim to support Ukraine and ship weapons and ammunition to Kiev

PARIS, February 16. /TASS/. The confrontation between NATO states and Russia may turn out long-term, and the alliance must be ready for such a development, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told AFP Thursday.

"We need to be prepared for the long haul, this may last for many, many, many, many years," he said.

Stoltenberg expressed his certainty that the 30 member states still aim to support Ukraine and ship weapons and ammunition to Kiev. He believes that the success of the Russian special military operation will become a "tragedy for Ukrainians," but it will also be dangerous for other countries, because it will show that international conflicts can be resolved by force.
