French reporter Bocquet applies for Russian citizenship to protect himself, his daughter

In Donetsk, he is a military expert on NATO weapons for the DPR mission in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to Ukraine's War Crimes

MOSCOW, January 19. /TASS/. Adrien Bocquet, volunteer and journalist from France covering the events in Donbass told TASS that he had applied for Russian citizenship in order to protect himself and his daughter. On January 11, Bocquet told TASS that he had asked for Russian citizenship and political asylum.

"I applied for citizenship because I feel safe in Russia and would like the same for my daughter," he said.

He clarified that his application for citizenship was officially received by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in December, and now he is waiting for a response.

Bocquet is a former French military man. In Donetsk, he is a military expert on NATO weapons for the DPR mission in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to Ukraine's War Crimes. He is also involved in volunteer issues. Bocquet was the first of the Western volunteers who publicly stated that the events in Bucha were a provocation of the Ukrainian armed forces. Previously, he was prosecuted in France and almost died during an assassination attempt by Ukrainian nationalists in Istanbul.
