Kissinger considers Ukraine’s NATO membership ‘appropriate’ outcome of the conflict

"Before the war, I was opposed to membership of Ukraine in NATO, because I feared that it would start exactly the process that we see now," Former US Secretary of State noted

GENEVA, January 17. /TASS/. Ukraine’s membership in NATO would be an ‘appropriate’ outcome of the conflict, Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger opined, speaking in his video address to the World Economic Forum in Davos.

"Before the war, I was opposed to membership of Ukraine in NATO, because I feared that it would start exactly the process that we see now. Now that this process has reached that level, the idea of neutral Ukraine under these conditions is no longer meaningful. And in the end of the process that I described it has to be guaranteed by NATO in whatever forms NATO can develop. And I believe Ukrainian membership in NATO would be appropriate outcome," Kissinger said.
