Minsk sees danger of provocations on Ukrainian border, Defense Ministry says

Earlier, Belarusian State Border Committee Chairman Anatoly Lappo noted that the presence of unidentified armed people without insignia on the Ukrainian side near the border poses a danger

MINSK, November 30. /TASS/. Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said there is a danger of provocations on the Ukrainian border, which may escalated into armed incidents.

"Ukraine’s involvement of additional forces at the border, engagement of national armed forces, formation of territorial forces near the border of our state create risks of provocations, which can escalate to armed border incidents," Khrenin said in an interview for Belarusian media Wednesday.

Earlier, Belarusian State Border Committee Chairman Anatoly Lappo noted that the presence of unidentified armed people without insignia on the Ukrainian side near the border poses a danger. Belarus deployed reinforced patrols, actively engages security equipment and utilizes maneuverable border security groups as a reaction measure.

In early October, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko pointed out that Ukraine has pulled a group of up to 15,000 servicemen to the Belarusian border.
