Saboteur behind Nord Stream bent on severing ties between Russia, EU — Putin

The Russian leader said that the person behind the recent attack on gas pipelines could be someone who had the technical capability to cause such explosions

MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. Someone who wants to fracture the ties between Russia and the European Union and weaken the bloc is behind the sabotage on the Nord Stream pipelines, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, addressing the Russian Energy Week forum on Wednesday.

Commenting on who might be behind the recent attack on the gas pipelines, he said: "Evidently, someone who is seeking to sever ties between Russia and the EU, to undermine and smash Europe’s political identity, to weaken its industrial potential and to get their hands on the market."

The Russian leader said that could be someone who had the technical capability to cause such explosions, who "staged similar sabotage before, was caught red-handed but was never punished."
