TEHRAN, May 28. /TASS/. Tehran has proposed hosting talks between Russia and Ukraine, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Iran "supports dialogue and diplomacy", the minister said, adding that he told his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, last week that Iran was prepared to host talks between Russia and Ukraine.

The conflict in Ukraine had been caused by "the US’ and NATO’s provocative actions," Fars news agency reported the minister as saying. They "provoked the Kremlin into this" by expanding their military presence in the region, he said.

Lavrov and Amir-Abdollahian held telephone talks on May 19, when they discussed the resumption of the nuclear deal and the situation around Ukraine.
