CHISINAU, May 7. /TASS/. The army of self-proclaimed Transnistria sticks to the daily routine in the wake of last week’s terrorist attacks, the republic’s leader, Vadim Krasnoselsky told the media on Friday while commenting on the highest level of terrorist alert he introduced earlier.
"This does not imply putting the armed forces on the high alert," Krasnoselsky said. He explained that the Interior Ministry and other law enforcement agencies tightened security measures. The protection of key facilities has been enhanced and roadblocks placed around big cities. Road police were conducting random checks of motor vehicles.
Krasnoselsky said that the tighter security measures, originally introduced till May 9, might be prolonged.
Last week, Transnistria saw a string of terrorist attacks. On April 25, the building of the State Security Ministry was fired at with man-portable grenade launchers. In the evening of the same day explosions occurred at an airfield of a military unit near Tiraspol. The next day two antennas of one of the region’s largest radio and television centers in the village of Mayak were blown up. And on April 27, the territory of a military arsenal near the village of Kolbasna was attacked with a grenade launcher.
Krasnoselsky said all attacks had been masterminded from Ukraine.
