US brings cybercrime charges against four Russians — Department of Justice

Defendants are alleged to be involved in cyberattacks against the global energy sector between 2012 and 2018

NEW YORK, March 25. /TASS/. US authorities charge four Russians with cybercrimes, the Department of Justice said in its statement released on Friday.

"The Department of Justice unsealed two indictments today charging four defendants, all Russian nationals who worked for the Russian government," the Department said.

Defendants are alleged to be involved in cyberattacks against the global energy sector between 2012 and 2018.

Evgeny Gladkikh is the defendant in the first case and Pavel Akulov, Mikhail Gavrilov and Marat Tyukov are defendants in the second case.

"An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," the Department concluded.
