‘Out of the question’: No plans for new COVID-19 lockdown in Russia, says Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov stressed that "some virologists are constantly waiting for another wave, yet some say that it will come later, still others say it won’t happen again at all"

MOSCOW, September 15. /TASS/. The authorities have no intention of imposing another lockdown in Russia, and the issue is not on the agenda, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

"This is out of the question. There is no such issue [on the agenda] now," he said when asked how the authorities are gearing up for another wave of COVID-19 and whether they intend to impose new restrictions on citizens and businesses.

Commenting on the question that some medical specialists are predicting a new coronavirus wave in late September, Peskov stressed that "some virologists are constantly waiting for another wave, yet some say that it will come later, still others say it won’t happen again at all." "There is a wide range of opinions here," he concluded.
