Russian marathon runner Klimov sets new world record in Backyard Ultra men’s event

Dmitry Klimov managed to run 124 laps covering a total distance of 831.5 kilometers kilometers in more than five days

ST. PETERSBURG, June 25. /TASS/. Russian runner Dmitry Klimov set a new world record in the Backyard Ultra men’s event at the Biotropika Ultra Trail tournament in the Leningrad Region after he managed to run 124 laps covering a total distance of 831.5 kilometers kilometers in more than five days.

Backyard Ultra is a form of ultramarathon race where competitors must keep running 6.706 kilometers (4.167 miles) laps in less than one hour. The event goes on until there is only one person left - last man standing.

The previous male world record was 119 laps (495.8 miles or 797.9 kilometers), set by Phil Gore (Australia) at the Dead Cow Gully event in Queensland, Australia on June 26, 2025.

Russia’s Dmitry Sheremet and Ivan Zaborsky, who finished behind Klimov, also beat Gore’s world record.
