Оn Monday it was announced that Russia would not participate in the UEFA Nations League 2022/23 and in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 final tournament

MOSCOW, May 2. /TASS/. The Russian Football Union (RFU) strongly disagrees with the decisions of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to ban Russian clubs and teams from participating in the next season’s tournaments and may file new cases in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the RFU press service said in a statement on Monday.

"The Russian Football Union expressed strong disagreement with decisions taken by UEFA. The RFU will continue protecting its own interests within the cases that are already being considered in the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne and reserves the right to initiate new cases," the statement said.

Earlier on Monday it was announced that Russia would not participate in the UEFA Nations League 2022/23 and in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 final tournament. Russia will also have no affiliated clubs participating in UEFA club competitions in the 2022/23 season, while its bid to host the UEFA EURO 2028 and the UEFA EURO 2032 was declared as not eligible.

All Russian national teams and clubs were suspended temporarily from participation in FIFA and UEFA competitions due to the situation in Ukraine in late February.
