Russia not to participate in UEFA Nations League 2022/23

The Russian national team was to play in Group 2 of the Division B against Albania, Iceland and Israel

MOSCOW, May 2. /TASS/. Russia will not participate in the UEFA Nations League 2022/23, the press service of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) said in a statement on Monday.

The Russian national team was to play in Group 2 of the Division B against Albania, Iceland and Israel. The team will automatically be ranked fourth in the group. Consequently, it will be relegated at the end of the group phase and ranked in 16th and last place of League B.

On February 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued recommendations to international sports federations to bar athletes from Russia and Belarus from taking part in international tournaments citing the ongoing situation involving Russia in Ukraine.
