ABU DHABI, November 16. /TASS/. The 49th conference of the General Assembly of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) will open in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on Wednesday.
As part of the event, to continue until November 17, TASS Director General Sergey Mikhaylov will unveil the agency’s new product, the Arabic-language news feed.
The assembly will focus on the role of news agencies in promoting the culture of tolerance. During the forum, delegates representing Arab and European news agencies will share their ideas about broadening cooperation, exchanging information, photos and video footage, and on other issues of professional interest.
The opening remarks will be delivered by Director-General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM) Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi and Saudi Press Agency (SPA) President Fahd bin Hassan Al Aqran, who is also the President of Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA).
The discussions will be attended by chiefs of the United Kingdom’s PA Media, Germany’s DPA, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), TASS and the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA).
The final session of the forum will be held on November 17.
FANA was created in 1975. Its headquarters are in Lebanon. At present, the organization brings together news agencies from 18 Arab countries. Its goal is to strengthen professional relations among those agencies, to ensure better news coverage in those countries and to help spread Arab news all over the world.
