One dose of Sputnik Light 73-85% effective, Russian Direct Investment Fund head estimates

The RDIF head noted that the Sputnik Light vaccine is being developed to be supplied abroad while it is planned to inoculate Russians with Sputnik V with effectiveness surpassing 90%

MOSCOW, January 14. /TASS/. Effectiveness of one dose of a "light" version of the Sputnik V vaccine will be in the range from 73% to 85%, Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev told Reuters on Thursday.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned the light version of the vaccine. According to him, the duration of action of this preparation will be shorter than of the regular Sputnik V vaccine, however, it will allow to inoculate a larger number of people.

The RDIF head noted that the Sputnik Light vaccine is being developed to be supplied abroad while it is planned to inoculate Russians with Sputnik V with effectiveness surpassing 90%.

The RDIF head told the agency that Sputnik V will take up 25% of the global market. He reiterated that as many as about 1.5 mln people have already been inoculated with the preparation. The RDIF plans to register Sputnik V in nine new countries and deliver it to seven or eight countries as early as January and in February it plans to apply for registration of the preparation in the European Union.

Major export deals will be concluded in the next 6-9 months, while 95% of preparations supplied within the framework of these agreements will be produced abroad, according to the RDIF head. He also expressed an opinion that people worldwide will return to their normal lives as early as 2021.
