Arkhangelsk airport in northern Russia shuts down after small plane skids off runway

Initial examination suggests that the airplane has not received any external damage

MOSCOW, January 12. /TASS/. The airport in the northern Russian city of Arkhangelsk has suspended operation after an Arktika Airlines Yak-42 airplane skidded off the runway, the Russian aviation agency said in a statement.

"At about 18:00 Moscow time on Friday, January 12, an Arktika Airlines Yak-42 aircraft skidded off the runway after landing at the airport of Arkhangelsk (Talagi)," the agency said. "The airport is temporarily closed as the Yak-42, which is trapped in the snow, is being prepared for towing to the parking lot."

Initial examination suggests that the airplane has not received any external damage, according to the statement.
