Foreign brands to eventually return to Russia — Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov says that Russia is interested in product diversity, investments

MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. Western brands will return to Russia as politicized pressure from their governments weakens, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS in an interview.

"Over time, of course, [foreign brands] will return. This politicized pressure on business, which is detrimental to the interests of that business, will certainly fade away. Then companies will rush to return here," Peskov said.

He noted that any economy is interested in foreign investment and product diversity.

"Product diversity gives citizens better quality for less money. The main thing is not the brand, not the business but the citizens. It is important that citizens have the opportunity to buy the best products for less money," the Kremlin spokesman said.

Peskov expressed confidence that the brands would return and that their numbers would remain high. “They will have to compete with our brands but this will spur our companies to keep moving forward,” he added.
