ST. PETERSBURG, May 20. /TASS/. The West is making changes to its "rule-based order" as it sees its rejection by the Global South, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.
"They see that this rules-based order is not accepted by the Global South, not accepted by the Russian Federation, not accepted by a large number of countries, and they are right now starting to adjust the position for this," Medvedev told reporters. "Probably, there is no point in using this model."
According to the official, the solution is obvious.
"It is necessary to move <...> to the model of universal principles of international law," he said. "I hope that that would be useful."
According to Medvedev, the West is pushing for strict adherence to the rule-based order, regardless of what other countries think.
"This model of 'rule-based order' that Western countries use all the time actually has no objective form, because no one has applied or adopted this order as a convention. It does not exist in written form," Medvedev said. "But nevertheless they (the West - TASS) use it as a reference."
