CIS summit has no agenda, serves as an opportunity to discuss pertinent issues — Kremlin

The meeting before New Year’s Day is a long-standing CIS tradition

IGORA /Leningrad Region/, December 25. /TASS/. The CIS summit in the Leningrad Region is of an informal nature and does not have a fixed agenda, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

He explained that at the summit, national leaders may exchange views on matters of interest. "This is an informal summit without a defined agenda," the Kremlin official noted. "Typically, national leaders use this opportunity to both exchange opinions on pressing issues concerning the Commonwealth and discuss regional situations and bilateral relations," Peskov added.

The meeting before New Year’s Day is a long-standing CIS tradition. As Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov announced, at the summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin will summarize the results of Russia’s chairmanship at the CIS in 2024, after which the heads of state will engage in informal discussions and exchange gifts. It is also anticipated that during the discussions, the CIS leaders will address preparations for the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 2025.

All events are taking place not far from St. Petersburg, at the Igora resort in the Leningrad Region.
