KURSK, November 7. /TASS/. The Governor of Russia’s Kursk Region, Alexey Smirnov, shared a story of a woman from one of the region's border areas, which was subjected to a massive attack by the Ukrainian armed forces in August, describing how she and her family were forced to live in a basement under the rubble of their destroyed house, without food.
"We were alone in the basement, under the debris. The house was wrecked. I kept a piece of paper to write on every day so that I wouldn't lose track of time. The wounded were evacuated, and we were left behind. There was nothing to eat; we only had a half-liter [17 oz.] bottle of water that was half-full, drinking one sip a day," she said in a video published on the regional head's Telegram channel.
The resident of the borderline Kursk Region explained that her family was rescued by Russian troops. "A car came for us; they escorted us out of the house at their own risk. We were saved by Russian soldiers, to whom we are very grateful," the woman said.
According to her, the Russian servicemen literally saved them from death. "From death and from the drones, the kamikaze ones, from everything. We live here for the Russian soldiers' sake. Thank you. No matter how hard it is, we will believe that everything will turn out well," she added.
Ukraine launched a massive attack on the Kursk Region on August 6. A federal emergency was declared in the region, and residents of border areas are evacuating to safer locations. Around 100 civilians have been killed near the border in the region in attacks by Ukrainian forces since the beginning of the enemy’s invasion, according to the office of the Kursk Region Human Rights Commissioner, Vladimir Firsov.
As the Russian Defense Ministry reported, the Kiev regime has lost more than 30,200 troops and 185 tanks since the start of fighting in the Kursk area. Russian forces continue operations to destroy Ukrainian armed formations.
