MINSK, April 12. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov took part in the seventh meeting of foreign ministers of five Central Asian nations - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, a TASS correspondent reports.
The event was held on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Foreign Ministers' Council, which Lavrov chaired in Minsk on April 12.
"Undoubtedly, this format is very important in order to regularly exchange views on regional security and topical international aspects," the Russian minister said at the beginning of the meeting.
The Russian Foreign Ministry earlier reported that the participants discussed the progress of the implementation of the agreements reached following the first Russia-Central Asia summit held in Astana on October 14, 2022. The sides also exchanged views on key international and regional issues. Special attention was paid to environmental issues and prospects for cooperation in this area.
