EU mission in Armenia morphing into NATO mission — Lavrov

"This affair of the past few years is being twisted by both Mr. Pashinyan and his staff, the leadership of the Armenian parliament," the top Russian diplomat said

MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. The EU Mission in Armenia is gradually becoming a NATO mission, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the Izvestia daily.

"Servicemen from Norway, Canada and the United States are now being sent there in addition, turning the European Union Mission into the mission of the North Atlantic Alliance," he said.

Lavrov reiterated that in 2021, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan opened the country’s doors to the EU Mission instead of the CSTO Mission, "promising Azerbaijan that this would only be for two months." "And two months later, having ignored Azerbaijan, the European Union doubled this mission," the top diplomat pointed out.

"This affair of the past few years is being twisted by both Mr. Pashinyan and his staff, the leadership of the Armenian parliament," Lavrov said.
