Russia ready to attend OSCE meeting if Bulgaria opens airspace — Lavrov

The OSCE ministerial meeting will be held in Skopje from November 30 through December 1

MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. A Russian delegation will take part in a meeting of the OSCE foreign ministers in Skopje if Bulgaria makes good on its promise to open its airspace to Russian planes, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

"[North] Macedonia has invited us to attend the meeting of OSCE foreign ministers. Bulgaria has reportedly promised [North] Macedonia to open its airspace. If it does, we will be there," he said at the Primakov Readings forum.

"Let us wait and see. We already have several requests for meetings, including from Western representatives, in case we come there. Of course, we will meet with everyone."

The OSCE ministerial meeting will be held in Skopje from November 30 through December 1. The OSCE foreign ministers are expected to choose the chairmanship. North Macedonian Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani said on November 14 that the issue of Lavrov’s presence at the meeting was not yet settled. He also recalled that the top Russian diplomat is under EU sanctions.
