Russian forces ensure safe rotation of IAEA observers at Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant

According to the ministry, a ceasefire was declared along the observers’ route that began from a designated crossing site at a destroyed bridge near the Kamenskoye settlement

MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Russian forces ensured a safe rotation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) observers at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) amid a Ukrainian drone attack, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"On November 2, the Russian Armed Forces ensured a safe regular rotation of observers from the IAEA mission to the Zaporozhye NPP," the statement reads.

According to the ministry, a ceasefire was declared along the observers’ route that began from a designated crossing site at a destroyed bridge near the Kamenskoye settlement. The ceasefire, which lasted from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., was respected by Russian troops.

"While inspecting the road close to the crossing site, Russian deminers found unexploded foreign-made munitions, left as a result of Ukrainian shelling attacks on the ZNPP area. Russian service members destroyed the ordnance, ensuring the safe crossing of the mission’s members and their arrival at the power plant," the statement said.

The Russian Defense Ministry also said that the city of Energodar had been attacked by drones from the direction of Ukraine between 12:20 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. Russian forces repelled the attack.

The mission consists of four inspectors, whose task is to monitor and assess the safety of Zaporozhye NPP. IAEA experts have been present at the ZNPP since September 1, 2022, when IAEA DirectorGeneral Rafael Grossi visited the facility.
