NOVO-OGARYOVO, November 15. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday said he believes the attempts to rewrite history aim to weaken Russia.
"The attempts by some countries to rewrite and turn inside out world history are becoming more aggressive and, by and large, have an obvious goal with respect to our society, which is at least to divide us, to take away our reference points and ultimately to weaken Russia and influence its sovereignty, essentially, to loosen the sovereignty," the president said at a meeting of a committee to organize Victory Day festivities.
"Distortion of history, imposition of myths, erosion of values: In many respects, this - these myths - are the starting points for knocking off balance countries and peoples," Putin said. "This scenario, as we can see, has already been tested in some countries, including Ukraine, and in some other states."
"There have been attempts to do the same with our country, with Russia, but we put up resistance in time and firmly enough to defend our interests," the president said.
